Tymm Holloway is continuing to hit the mark, stepping into his light as an independent filmmaker director. An award-winning producer and director, Tymm attended the School of Visual Arts in New York. His keen eye was inspired by taking photographs from the many places he has traveled.
Growing up in California with a father working in the film business played a key role in his writing, acting, and photography endeavors.
Showcasing his storytelling with award-winning documentary shorts, his film debut, “Dylan’s Fate,” premiered in 2009 at the International Black Film Festival of Nashville (IBFFN).
He had the honor of crafting and directing a short film starring his father Simeon Holloway, “95 Never Looked So Good,” which was a winner of the 2017 Gold Reel Award at the Nevada International Film Festival and Best Documentary Short at Harlem’s People’s Film Festival in 2019.
It was selected for an Award of Distinction at the 2017 Canada Shorts Film Festival and was also a selection at the 2017 San Francisco Black Film Festival and the 2017 Violette Film Festival (Sacramento, CA).
This film still has a sentimental value celebrating the legacy of his late father’s association with the first all-Black Navy band.
His passion for perfection was showcased in his debut television show on BCAT (Brooklyn Cable Access Television), N’dulge N’Brooklyn, in November of 2006.
Aired on Brooklyn's local network, N’dulge N’Brooklyn was well received as a half-hour program, which displayed a variety of everyday working people that reveal their passion beyond their nine-to-five jobs.
His most recent award-winning documentary short “Me and Grandpa” was selected for the Award of Distinction at the 2020 Canada Shorts Film Festival, 2020 Miami International Film Fest/Best Shorts Worldwide, and 2021 Brazil International Film Festival.
This film, which was made in Brazil, continues to showcase and was recently selected by the Washington DC International Film Festival.
Tymm’s upcoming projects include a documentary short, filmed in Brazil, now in post-production. He is also teaming up with Breno Calixto, his “Me and Grandpa” collaborator, for a new project filming in spring 2023.
